Ferdowsi Museum
The Ferdowsi Museum, located next to Ferdowsi’s tomb in Tus, is a museum that deals with the life and works of Hakim Abulqasem Ferdowsi, the poet of the Shahnameh epic.
This museum was established in 1347, at the same time as Ferdowsi’s mausoleum was built, in a building that was originally designed as a traditional tea house. In 1361, with the aim of better introducing the cultural and historical values of Tus and the personality of Hakim Abulqasem Ferdowsi and his eternal and lasting work Shahnameh, the use of this building was changed to a museum.
Ferdowsi Museum currently has two main sections:
The first part is devoted to the display of works related to Ferdowsi’s life and work. In this section, you can see works such as manuscripts of the Shahnameh, translations of the Shahnameh in different languages, pictures and sculptures of Ferdowsi, as well as objects related to his life.
