Zanjan stone caravanserai
Sangi Zanjan Caravanserai, also known as Dash Caravanserai, is a Safavid caravanserai located on the Zanjan-Miane road, in front of the Zanjan railway station. This caravanserai is the only remaining building of Zanjan caravanserai and is considered as a historical document and tourist attraction.
History:
The stone caravanserai of Zanjan was built during the period of Shah Abbas II in 1047 AH. This caravanserai was located on the Silk Road and was a place for caravans to rest and trade.
Architecture:
The stone caravanserai of Zanjan is made of rubble stone and plaster and soil mortar and has a four-evan plan. This caravanserai has one floor and has 24 rooms.
Current user:
Zanjan stone caravanserai has been converted into a traditional dining room after restoration and is currently welcoming tourists.
