Yazd Shesh Badgir Reservoir

Yazd Shesh Badgir Reservoir: a gem in the heart of the desert
Architecture:

The architecture of the six wind reservoir is like a manifestation of creativity and proportion in the heart of the desert. Six high wind deflectors, from which the name of the reservoir is also derived, with a height of about 18 meters, help to cool the internal space of the reservoir and prevent the water from spoiling. These wind deflectors, being octagonal, make the best use of the prevailing winds in the region.
The huge dome of the water reservoir, built with clay and brick materials, with a diameter of 15 meters and a height of 10 meters, has given the building strength and special beauty. The clay and brick materials used in the construction of the water tank, with their insulation properties, help to maintain the cool temperature of the water during the day.
The entrance of the reservoir with high arches and brick decorations has created a magnificent and eye-catching atmosphere. Above the entrance gate, a stone inscription can be seen with the date of construction of the reservoir (1218 AH) and the name of its owner (Haj Mohammad Ebrahim Khorrami).
Capacity:
Shesh Badghir reservoir with a capacity of about 2000 cubic meters is one of the largest reservoirs in Yazd. In the past, this reservoir was filled through the Zarch aqueduct and provided drinking water to the people of Fahadan neighborhood.
Different sections:
