War Museum (Timortash House): A tour of Iran’s military history
War Museum, located in Har Square in Tehran, is one of Iran’s specialized museums that deals with Iran’s military history. This museum, which is located in the house of Timurtash, the court minister of Reza Shah Pahlavi, houses a collection of weapons, uniforms, documents, and pictures related to Iran’s various wars.
History:
Timurtash House was built in 1312 by Abdul Hossein Timurtash. After the fall of Timurtash in 1312, this house became the property of the army and until 1373 it was used as the headquarters of the War University. In 1373, this house became a war museum.
Different sections:
The war museum has different sections, each dedicated to a specific topic. Hall of Iranian and Russian Wars, Hall of World War I, Hall of World War II, Hall of Iran and Iraq War, Hall of Martyrs of War, and Hall of Military Equipment are among these sections.
In the hall of Iran and Russia wars, you can learn about the history of Iran and Russia wars in the Qajar period. Weapons, uniforms, documents, and pictures related to these wars are displayed in this hall.
World War I Hall deals with World War I and Iran’s participation in this war. World War II Hall also deals with World War II and its effects on Iran.
The Iran-Iraq war hall deals with the Iran-Iraq war and the sacred defense of the Iranian nation. Weapons, uniforms, documents, and pictures related to this war are displayed in this hall.
Hall of War Martyrs is dedicated to Iran and Iraq War Martyrs. In this hall, pictures, memories, and personal objects of the martyrs are displayed.
The Hall of Military Equipment is dedicated to various military equipment from different periods of Iran’s history. Weapons, cannons, tanks, planes, and ships are among these equipment.
