Location and extent:
Balqis city is located 3 kilometers southwest of Esfrain city. This ancient city has an area of more than 180 hectares and consists of different parts such as citadel, Sharistan, mosque, bazaar, and caravanserai.
Balqis Citadel:
Balqis Citadel is the most important part of the historical city of Balqis. This citadel, which is located at the highest point of the city, has high towers and ramparts and a deep moat. Inside the citadel, remains of palaces, stables, and warehouses can be seen.
Sharistan:
Sharistan is a residential part of Balqis city. In this section, remains of houses, shops, and public places such as mosques and schools can be seen.
Archaeological excavations:
In recent years, numerous archaeological excavations have been carried out in Balqis city. In these excavations, valuable artifacts such as pottery, coins, and ornaments have been discovered.
