The historical citadel of Michigan: a strong fortress in the passage of time
Historical Michijan Citadel is a clay and mud building belonging to the Qajar period, which is located in the village of Alia Michijan in Khomein County, the birthplace of Imam Khomeini (RA), the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This citadel, which stands out next to the Michigan River with its old tower and rampart, is a valuable reminder of the history and culture of the region.
History:
Mishijan Citadel was built in 1174 AH by the order of Haj Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, one of the elders of the Qajar clan.
Throughout history, this citadel has been used as a military fortress, local government, and housing.
Michijan Citadel was purchased and restored in 2010 by the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization.
Architecture:
Michijan Citadel is built on a land of about 4000 square meters.
This citadel has two inner and outer courtyards, towers and ramparts, halls, rooms, and a reservoir.
The brick and stucco decoration of Mishijan Citadel is a beautiful example of Iranian architecture in the Qajar period.
