The historic cave of Mirmalas is located about 18 km northeast of Kohdasht, Lorestan, on the road to Shirez Gorge. This cave dates back to the Middle Paleolithic period and about 40 thousand years ago. The rock carvings of this cave were registered in the list of national works of Iran in 2016.
Mirmalas rock paintings include images of humans, animals, plants and hunting scenes. These motifs are drawn on the cave walls using red and black colors. Some of these motifs are very similar to the motifs of Lascaux cave in France.
In addition to rock motifs, Mirmalas Cave has other attractions. This cave has a high ceiling and a large hall. There are also several water springs inside the cave.
Mirmalas Cave is one of the most important tourist attractions of Lorestan province. Every year, many tourists from all over Iran and the world visit this cave.
