Shams al-Sultaneh Naraq market is a collection of rows, cells, caravanserais and historic bathhouses in Naraq city in the central province. This collection dates back to the Qajar period and is known as one of the most beautiful and complete traditional market collections in Iran.
History:
This complex was built about 170 years ago by Mohammad Naraghi, one of the rich people of the Qajar period.
During its prosperity, Shams al-Sultaneh bazaar was a trading place for all kinds of goods, including carpets, silk, saffron, and spices.
This complex has gone through many ups and downs throughout history and is currently being restored.
Architecture:
Shams al-Sultaneh Naraq Bazaar is an example of authentic Iranian architecture.
The use of bricks, clay, plaster and tiles in the construction of this collection has given it a beautiful and eye-catching effect.
Vaults and high domes, numerous cells, a magnificent caravanserai and a historical bath are among the different parts of this complex.
The decoration of tiling, mirror work and moqran work in this collection has doubled its beauty.
