Shalo Bridge

Introduction:
Shalo Bridge, which is also known as Dezpart Bridge, Desfart Bridge, Izhaj Bridge, Khorezad Bridge and Khorzad Bridge, is a historical bridge from the Sassanid period located on the Karun River near Izeh city in Khuzestan province. This bridge was registered as one of the national works of Iran on 24 April 1346 with registration number 737.
History:
The exact date of construction of Shalo Bridge is not known, but some historians attribute it to the Sasanian period. This bridge has been restored many times throughout history.
Architecture:
The Shalo bridge has gable arches and stone foundations and is made of materials such as stone, brick and Saroj mortar. This bridge was one of the biggest bridges in Iran in its time and played an important role in the passage of people and goods in the region.
Tourist Attractions:
Architecture: The magnificent architecture and materials used in the Shalo bridge, including cruciform arches and stone foundations, have turned this building into one of the tourist attractions in Khuzestan province.
Natural scenery: The location of the Shalo bridge next to the Karun river and in a mountainous area has created beautiful natural scenery.
Current situation:
Shalo Bridge went under water in 1338 due to the flooding of Karun Dam 3. In 2013, with the decrease of the dam water level, this bridge came out from under the water again.
