Radkan Kurdkoi Tower: an architectural gem of the Seljuk period
Radkan Tower, also known as Radkan Mill, is a historical monument from the Seljuk period, located in Golestan province and near Radkan village. This tower was built in the year 407 AH by the order of Abu Ja’afar Muhammad Bin Vandarian, from Espahbadan Al Bawand.
Architecture:
Radkan Tower is a unique example of Seljuk period architecture. This tower with a height of 35 meters is made of bricks and has beautiful brickwork and plasterwork decorations.
Body: The body of the Radkan tower has 10 cracks (pillars) that extend from the bottom to the top.
Dome: The dome of Radkan Tower is cone-shaped and has beautiful brickwork decorations.
Inscription: Above the entrance of the tower, there is an inscription in Kufic script that mentions the date of construction and the name of the founder of the tower.

The exact usage of Radkan tower is not known. Some historians believe that this tower was used as a minaret. Some others also believe that this tomb tower was one of Al Bawand’s tombs.
