Qiran Castle: a strong fortress in the heart of the history of Ilam
Qiran Castle, which is also known as Qala Qiran Castle, is located on top of a high mountain in Ilam province, overlooking the Ilam plain and near the village of Qiran. This castle, which dates back to the Parthian period, is known as one of the most magnificent and important historical castles in Iran.
History:
Parthian period: evidence shows that Qiran Castle was originally built in the Parthian period as a military fortress to protect the western borders of Iran.
Sassanid era: During the Sassanid era, Qiran Castle was reconstructed and developed and was used as a government and military center.
Al-Buye era: During the Al-Buye era, Qiran Castle prospered as a cultural and scientific center and many scientists and artists lived there.
Safavid era: During the Safavid era, Qiran Castle was used as a military base to counter Ottoman attacks.

Plan: The plan of Qiran Castle is irregular and fits the rock of the mountain.

Towers: Qiran Castle has several towers that are located at the highest point of the castle and were used for surveillance and defense of the castle.
Fences: Qiran Castle has long and thick fences that were built to protect the castle from enemy attacks.
Gates: Qiran Castle has two entrance and exit gates, which are located on the north and south sides of the castle.
