Historical Qaban Castle, known as Qaban Castle or Kapan Castle, is a relic of the ups and downs of Iran’s history, which stands out on a hill overlooking the city of Mako in West Azarbaijan province. The history of this castle goes back to the Timurian period and it has been around 600 years.

Qaban Castle is built with stone and rubble materials and with a rectangular plan. The high walls of the castle show its strength and stability. Watchtowers in the corners of the fort made it possible to protect and monitor the area. The entrance of the castle is located on its southern side and has given a special beauty to the castle with its crescent arch and brick decorations.
The inside of the castle consists of two parts: the residential part and the military part. The residential part includes rooms, halls and courtyards. The military sector also includes towers, ramparts and stables.
