Prince Mahan garden shines like a gem of history and beauty in the heart of the Kerman desert. This garden, which is known as one of the most beautiful gardens in Iran, was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1390 and attracts many tourists from all over the world every year.
A rich history:
The story of the construction of Prince Mahan garden dates back to the end of the Qajar period and the reign of Mohammad Hassan Khan, Sardar Irvani over Kerman. Sardar Irvani ordered the construction of a magnificent garden by choosing a place with a pleasant climate at the foot of the Tigran mountains. After his death, Abdul Hamid Mirza Naser al-Dawlah, the granddaughter of Naser al-Din Shah and the ruler of Kerman, completed the construction of the garden and registered his name as the main founder of the garden.

Prince Mahan garden is a unique example of Iranian garden architecture. In this garden, various elements such as water, trees, and buildings are placed next to each other and have created a unique harmony.

One of the distinctive features of Shahzad Mahan garden is its stepped design. The garden is built on a sloping land and on six different levels. This design, in addition to visual beauty, helps the flow of water in the garden and the creation of numerous ponds and waterfalls.

Water plays a vital role in Prince Mahan’s garden. The aqueduct that originates from the mountains of Tigran supplies the water needed by the garden. This water flows in many streams in the garden and creates beautiful ponds and waterfalls.

In the middle of Prince Mahan’s garden, a two-story mansion with brick and tile decorations can be seen. This mansion, which was built in the period of Naser al-Doleh, has many porches, rooms, and halls. The decorations of this mansion are an example of the art and architecture of the Qajar period.
