History:
In the beginning, Mashakh Square was a place for military parades and training. Fath Ali Shah Qajar ordered the construction of this square in 1210 AH. At that time, this square was outside the fence of Tehran city.
Names:
Mashakh Square has had different names throughout history. Among these names, the following can be mentioned:
Artillery Field: It was also known by this name because of the presence of artillery in this field.
Citadel Square: It was also known by this name due to its proximity to the Royal Citadel.
National Garden: During Reza Shah Pahlavi’s period, the name of this square was changed to National Garden.
Historical events:
Masakh Square has witnessed important events throughout history. Among these events, the following can be mentioned:
Execution of Mirza Reza Kermani: The murderer of Naseruddin Shah Qajar was executed in Mashakh square.
Closing the National Council with a ball: During the period of Mohammad Ali Shah Qajar, the National Council was closed with a ball.
Conquest of Tehran in the Constitutional War: The constitutionalists captured Mashakh Square in the Conquest of Tehran.

National Jewelry Museum: The National Jewelry Museum is the storage place for Iran’s royal jewelry, where a unique collection of diamonds, emeralds, and other precious stones is displayed.
Golestan Palace: Golestan Palace is a collection of beautiful palaces and gardens that was the residence of Iranian kings during the Qajar era.
