Maharlo lake, the pink gem of Fars
Maharlu Lake, also known as Salt Lake, is located 20 kilometers southeast of Shiraz and near the city of Sarvostan. This lake, with an area of 600 square kilometers and its unique pink color, is known as one of the natural and tourist attractions of Fars province.
Pink color:
The pink color of Maharlo lake is due to the presence of Dunalilla salina algae. This algae grows in salt water and produces red pigments that give the lake water a pink color.
