Lembsar Fortress, also known as Lemsar Fortress, is a historical fortress in Alamut, Qazvin Province, Iran. This castle, which dates back to the Sassanid period, was widely used during the Seljuk period. This fort is one of the most important bases of the Ismailis after the Hassan Sabah fortress and is located in the western Alamut section of Qazvin city.
Lambser Castle is located on top of a high rock and between two rivers. This fort has three gates, the main gate is on the north side. The castle consists of two parts, inner and outer. The inner part consists of a tower and a rampart, a fence, and several buildings. The exterior consists of stables, storehouses, and several towers.
Lembsar Castle has witnessed many events throughout its history. This fort was conquered in 565 AH by Hasan Sabah, the leader of the Ismailis. The Ismailis used this fortress as a base for their attacks on the Seljuks.
Lembsar Castle was conquered by the Mongols in 654 AH. After conquering the castle, the Mongols set it on fire. Lembsar Castle was abandoned after the Mongol attack.
Lambser Castle is currently being restored. This castle has been registered as one of the national monuments of Iran.
How to access:
To access Lambsar Castle, you need to go to Razmian village via Qazvin-Almut road. You have to walk about 2 kilometers from Razmian village to reach the castle.
