Khanebagh Amir Semnan, a gem in the heart of the desert, with its magnificent architecture and rich history, attracts many pilgrims and tourists every year. This collection, which is located in the center of Semnan city, is one of Iran’s garden museums and dates back to the Qajar period.
History:
Khanehbagh of Amir Semnan was built in the Qajar period by order of Haj Mirza Agha Family, one of the merchants and elders of Semnan city. This collection was bought and renovated by Semnan Municipality in 2018 and was opened as a garden museum in 2018.
Architecture:
Khanehbagh of Amir Semnan consists of two parts: house and garden.
Home:
Amir Semnan’s house is of the type of inner and outer houses and has different parts such as courtyard, vestibule, porch, many rooms, cellar and attic.
Yard:
The courtyard is located in the center of the building and has a large pond and tall trees, including plantain, orange and grape trees. In the past, the large pond in the yard was used to store water and irrigate the garden and trees.
The entrance vestibule of the house also has beautiful brick and plaster decorations. The vestibule is a space to pass from the outer space to the inner space of the house, and in the hot seasons of the year, it provides a cool and pleasant atmosphere for the residents.
The porch of the house is located on the south side of the yard and has brick columns and tall arches. This porch has been a suitable space for holding various parties and ceremonies.
The rooms of Amir Semnan’s house are located on the upper and lower floors and are decorated with paintings, plasterwork and beautiful mirrors. The paintings of these rooms include slime, geometric, flower and bush designs and pictures. The plasterwork of these rooms are also very beautiful and elegant and are used on the ceiling and walls. The cellar of the house is located in the basement of the building and provides a cool and pleasant atmosphere for the residents in the hot seasons of the year.

Garden:
Amir Semnan garden has tall trees, including plantain, orange and grape trees, beautiful flowers and a pleasant atmosphere. In the past, this garden was used to supply drinking water and agriculture from the aqueduct.
Museum:
Amir Semnan’s Khanebagh Museum is located in the inner part of the house. In this museum, historical objects and dishes, manuscripts, exquisite Qurans, documents related to the history of Semnan, and tools related to people’s daily life in the past are displayed. Among these objects, we can mention clay, metal and glass containers, agricultural tools, carpentry tools, salami tools, spinning and weaving tools, and traditional clothes.
