Ilam Governor’s Castle, a gem in the heart of history
Ilam Governor’s Castle is a magnificent and historical building in the center of Ilam city, which was built during the Qajar era by the order of Gholamreza Khan Vali, the governor of Pushtkoh (now Ilam). This castle, which was built on a land of 2500 square meters and with an infrastructure of 1500 square meters, is known as one of the symbols of Ilam city and attracts many tourists and history lovers every year.
Architecture and features of the Wally Castle:
Central courtyard: Vali Castle has a large central courtyard with an area of 700 square meters. Various buildings of the castle are located around this courtyard.
Halls and rooms: Vali Castle has many halls and rooms, each of which had its own use. Shahneshin Hall is the biggest hall of the castle, which is decorated with beautiful decorations and paintings.
Towers: In the four corners of the castle, there are four tall and cylindrical towers that were built to watch and defend the castle.
Materials: The main materials used in the construction of Walli Castle are bricks and stones. Plastering, painting, and tiling are also used in the interior and exterior decorations of the castle.
Current use of Vali Castle:
Today, Vali Castle is used as an ethnological museum of Ilam. In this museum, various objects and accessories related to the culture and life of the people of Ilam have been exposed to the public.
