Gordakhme Faqre Qa: a gem of history and nature of Mahabad
In the heart of the towering mountains of Kurdistan, there is an ancient tomb called Faqre Qa, Fakhrika or Fakhrigah. This magnificent tomb, which is a relic of the Medes period, is located 18 km from Mahabad city and next to Agrigash village. Faqre Qa tomb has been registered as one of Iran’s national monuments with registration number 288 on 29 December 1316.
Journey into the depths of history:
By passing the Mahabad-Miandoab road and passing through the village of Agrigash, you will reach the foot of the mountain. The way up to Gordakhme is an exciting experience that takes you to the heart of history. With each step, the untold secrets of this ancient place reveal themselves more.
Amazing architecture:
The mausoleum of Faqre Qa is built on two floors. Four solid stone pillars support the roof of the first floor and three ponds are dug inside. The middle basin, which is larger and longer than the other two, is probably the burial place of an important person, perhaps Ferritus, the father of Diaco, the first king of the Medes.
The exterior of the mausoleum is plain and undecorated, but the entrance of its crescent arch gives it a special elegance and beauty. Inside the tomb, with its simplicity and solidity, it inspires visitors with a sense of grandeur and history.
A unique view:
From the top of Faqre Qa tomb, a unique view of the Shahrviran plain is in front of your eyes. The vast expanse of the plain, the green mountains and the village of Agrigash in the distance create an eye-catching picture that fascinates every tourist.
