Gohar Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Iran, which is located in the Ashtrankoh protected area in Lorestan province. This lake is located at an altitude of 2360 meters above sea level and its area is 88 hectares.
The Gahar Lake is divided into two parts: the Big Gahar Lake (Kale Gahar) and the Small Gahar Lake (Kore Gahar). Great Gohar Lake is about 1700 meters long, 400 to 800 meters wide and 4 to 28 meters deep. Gohar Koch Lake is about 500 meters long, 150 meters wide and 4 meters deep.
The water of Gohar Lake is very clear and smooth and has a turquoise color. This lake is the habitat of various species of aquatic animals such as rainbow trout, red speckled trout and Chamat blackfish.
There are thick forests of oak and medicinal plants around the lake. This area is a suitable place for climbing, hiking, picnic, camping, photography and swimming.
The best time to visit Gohar Lake is spring and early summer. In this season, the weather is pleasant and the nature is very beautiful.
To reach Gohar Lake, you need to go from Khorramabad to Durood and then go to Tamaliyah village. You have to walk for about 3 to 4 hours from the village of Tamlieh to reach Gohar Lake.
