Ghayathieh Khargerd School, Negini in the desert
History and foundation:
Ghiyathiya Khargard School was built between 842 and 847 AH by the order of Ghiyathuddin Pir Ahmad Khafi, the minister of Sultan Shahrukh Timuri in his hometown. The construction of this building was done during the glory and glory of the Timurids and in order to promote science and knowledge.
Architecture and decorations:
Prominent architects of that period, Ustad Qawamuddin and Ghiyathuddin Shirazi, who also played a role in the construction of the Goharshad Mosque in Mashhad and Al-Ghabeik School in Samarkand, were responsible for the design and construction of this school.
Ghayathieh Khargerd school is a type of four-door school and is made of brick and mortar. This building has two floors, long porches, stone columns, brick decorations and beautiful tiling.
The mosaic tile decorations and Quranic inscriptions with third and naskh script have doubled the beauty of this building.
Importance:
Ghayathieh Khargerd School is one of the most beautiful schools of the Timurid period in Iran in terms of architecture and decorations. In its time, this building was one of the most important scientific and cultural centers of Khorasan, and many scientists and scholars were engaged in teaching and studying science in it.
current situation:
After 60 years of prosperity, Ghiathieh Khargerd School went into decline due to the religious prejudices of the Safavid kings and was used as a caravanserai until 1315.
Fortunately, in 1315, with the efforts of the Department of Archaeology, this historical building was restored and is currently used as a museum.
