Fort Forg, a strong fortress in the heart of the desert
Forg Castle shines like a jewel in the heart of the South Khorasan desert. This strong fortress, which is a relic of the past, is located in the village of Forg, 5 km from the city of Medan.
The construction date of Forg Castle dates back to the Safavid period. At that time, this area was inhabited by different tribes and nomads. Forg Castle was built as a government headquarters and a shelter for the people against enemy attacks.
This castle has an area of about 4000 square meters and consists of two parts: the inner fence and the outer fence. Inside the inner fence, there are various buildings such as towers and ramparts, courtyards, halls, warehouses and prisons.
The tower and ramparts of Forg Castle are made of clay and mud and have a height of about 10 meters. At the top of the towers, there are holes for shooting and observing the surroundings.
The courtyard of the castle is a large and open space in the center of which is a water pond. Around the courtyard, there are various rooms and halls that were used as government headquarters, mosque, warehouse and crew quarters in the past.
Forg Castle has been attacked and destroyed many times throughout its history. But it has been renovated every time. It was last renovated in 2010 by the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization.
Today, Forg Castle is welcomed by many domestic and foreign tourists as a tourist attraction. Visitors can visit different parts of the castle and learn about the history and culture of the region.
In addition to historical and cultural value, Forg Castle also has many natural attractions. The view of the mountains and plains around the castle is very beautiful and eye-catching.
