Big Timcheh Bazaar of Qom: a treasure of architecture and history
The big timcheh of Qom market, which is also known as timcheh farsh, is one of the masterpieces of Iranian architecture in the Qajar period. This timcheh with its unique percussive roof, which is the largest percussive roof in Iran, was designed and implemented in 1261 AH by the famous architect Hassan Qomi.
Big Timche is built on two floors. On the ground floor, there are 27 independent rooms where all kinds of goods, especially carpets, are sold. Qom carpets are world famous and many tourists come to this store to buy carpets.
On the upper floor, there is Timche’s residence, which was the residence of the chief, manager and the main official of the building. Shahneshin, with its beautiful and artistic decorations, is one of the spectacular parts of Timcheh.
