Atiq Square of Isfahan: the beating heart of history and culture
Atiq Square, known as Imam Ali Square, is one of the oldest and most beautiful squares in Isfahan. This square, which is located in the center of the city, has long been an important place for social, cultural and economic activities.
History of Atiq Square:
Atiq Square was built during the Seljuk era, in the fifth century of the lunar calendar (11 AD).
This square has witnessed important events throughout its history.
During the Safavid period, Atiq Square became more important and important buildings such as Atiq Jame Mosque and Qaysarieh Sardar were built in it.
During the Qajar era, new buildings were added to Atiq Square.
Ancient square architecture:
Atiq Square is built in a rectangular shape with an area of about 20,000 square meters.
On the four sides of the square, there are important historical buildings such as Jame Atiq Mosque, Sardar Qaisarieh, Nima Ward School and Abbas Caravanserai.
The decorations of Maidan Atiq buildings include tiling, wall painting, plastering, mirroring, and moqrans work.
