Ancient collection of Chaghazanbil: a gem in the history of Iran
Introduction:

Chaghazanbil ancient complex, a valuable relic of the ancient Elamites, is located in Khuzestan province, 35 km southwest of Susa. This collection, which was registered in the list of national works of Iran in 1356 with the number 1159, was included in the UNESCO world heritage list as the first Iranian work in 1358.
History and structure:
Chaghazanbil building was built around 1250 years BC by the order of Ontash Gal, the Elamite king. The complex consists of a ziggurat, temples, palaces and other buildings nested within three enclosures.
Chaghazanbil Ziggurat:
The most prominent element of the Cheghazanbil complex is its ziggurat, which was built as a temple to the Elamite god Inshushinak. This ziggurat, which was the tallest religious building in the world in its time, originally had five floors and a height of about 52 meters. Today, two and a half floors of this ziggurat remain and it is known as a symbol of the greatness and glory of the Elamite civilization.
Temples and other buildings:
In addition to the ziggurat, the Cheghazanbil complex also includes other temples and buildings, including Ninurta Temple, Kiririsha Temple, Apadana Palace, and Eastern Palace. Each of these buildings display their own architectural features and elegance and provide valuable information about the culture and civilization of the ancient Elamites.
Historical and architectural importance:
Chaghazanbil complex has a special and privileged position in terms of history and architecture. This complex is known as one of the most important religious and political centers of the ancient Elamites and contains a treasure of information about this ancient civilization. Also, Chaghazanbil ziggurat architecture is a unique example of ancient Iranian architecture and shows the creativity and skill of Elamite architects in that period.
Tourism and the necessity of conservation:
As one of the important tourist attractions of Khuzestan province, Chaghazanbil complex welcomes many domestic and foreign tourists every year. However, this complex is facing problems such as erosion, moisture and illegal excavations. Preservation and protection of this valuable work is a common duty and requires measures such as restoration and reconstruction, humidity control and prevention of unauthorized excavations.
