The historical palace of Sheikh Nasuri: a gem in Siraf’s heart
The historical palace of Sheikh Nasuri, also known as Nasuri Castle or Sheikh Jabar Nasuri’s mansion, is actually a gem of architecture and history in the heart of the ancient city of Siraf. This castle, which is built on top of a hill overlooking the Persian Gulf, has become one of the popular tourist destinations in Bushehr province, not only because of its age and magnificent architecture, but also because of its unique landscape and unique attractions.
A look at the history of the castle:
Nasuri Castle was built in the early Qajar period by the order of Sheikh Jabar Nasuri, one of the local governors of Siraf. The construction of this castle lasted for about 180 years and a prominent architect named Ali Azar Shirazi was in charge of its design and implementation. The materials used in the construction of the castle are large stones and mud and plaster, which guarantees its strength and beauty.
Castle architecture:
Nasuri Castle consists of two parts, inner and outer. The inner part is the residence of the Nasuri family, and the outer part includes the courtyard, the palace and other service areas.
One of the distinctive features of Nasuri Castle is its plasterwork, which clearly shows the 200-year-old age of the building. Also, eighteen very beautiful paintings from Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh meetings have decorated the west porch of the castle and given it an epic and Shahnameh effect.
